OUR WINE CONSULTANT

Our wine industry consultant, Peter Scudamore-Smith, is a the founder and director, of Uncorked and Cultivated Pty Ltd http://www.uncorkedandcultivated.com.au. The specialist team of Australian wine consultants at Uncorked and Cultivated, use their experience to assist Peter with vineyard establishment and management, grape selection, label design and promotional activities in Australia and internationally.

Peter is a Master of Wines (London), as well as an oenologist, wine journalist, wine authority, wine judge, food scientist and coffee taster.

He graduated from Charles Sturt University and has consulted for the Ballandean Estate, Ironbark Ridge, Preston Peak, Sirromet, Albert River, Three Moon Creek, Jimbour Station, Glastonbury Estate, Catalyst and Settlers Rise brands. He currently manages five brands.

In 1996 Peter opened an International brokerage business which grew to several million dollars in annual turnover and export activity in Canada, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Denmark and Ireland

Peter publishes accurate and frank commentary in weekly columns and monthly and bi-monthly wine magazines. During the past twenty years he has written for The Sunday Mail, The Courier Mail, Vogue and the US Wine Spectator. Peter is the 1985 winner of the Vin de Champagne Award from the professional wine trade, the only Queensland trade person to win this award in its thirty-year history.

He subsequently specialised in the understanding and tasting of sparkling wines. He has been recorded in the International Who's Who of Wine edited in Paris as a notable Australian wine authority.

Peter commenced his wine judging interest in 1977 when asked to train as an associate judge at the annual Brisbane Royal National Association wine show.

Peter continued as an associate judge until 1980 and was then appointed a full judge. Since this time he has judged over 60 wine shows nation wide, some as chief judge.
